Boom’s menu bar application operates continuously in the background from your screen’s top menu bar. This tool enables rapid toggling of camera and microphone states, management of the Boom Remote, access to Boom Studio, complete application closure, and connection to the Boom Mirror feature.

The application automatically integrates with your video calls once installed in the menu bar and designated as your camera source within your conferencing platform.

Visual Indicators

The menu bar icon changes appearance based on connection status:

• Disconnected: Grey icon display
• Connected: Green icon with camera and microphone symbols visible

Keyboard Shortcuts

Control your camera and microphone through these Mac keyboard combinations:

• Camera toggle: Option + Cmd + O
• Microphone toggle: Option + Cmd + X

Visibility on Notched MacBooks

Users with newer MacBooks featuring a notch may experience Boom’s icon becoming hidden behind the notch if numerous menu bar items are present. The solution involves closing unnecessary menu bar applications until Boom appears, then using Cmd+click to drag the Boom icon rightward for permanent visibility.
